I know a lot of people love the festivity of Christmas, but I admit I'm not really one of them. I find the endless gatherings, crowds, and consumerism a little overwhelming. At the moment, Miss 22mo has also decided she likes neither car rides nor large crowds, so I just predict a lot of screaming and clinging over the next few days of family activities.
My husband is a paramedic so unfortunately public holidays don't exist in his line of work. I'm already tired thinking of wrangling the kids on my own. That's not to say I don't appreciate the fact I actually have family to celebrate with, but I think I would appreciate it a lot more if I didn't have a screaming child in my ear. Hopefully things will be very different in another 2 years' time. I very vaguely remember enjoying this season once upon a time when I was young and childless…it's a very distant memory now…but I'm sure it's somewhere in there.
Miss 4.5 is very excited for Christmas of course, because…presents. She has been excitedly counting down the days. Miss 22mo, on the other hand, still hasn't got a clue what's going on! It's probably the last year before she starts demanding specific presents. I shall enjoy her cluelessness while it lasts. I'm pretty sure by this age, Miss 4.5 knew what was going on already so we already had to get her toys (as opposed to things toddlers don't appreciate like clothes etc).
Are you a Christmas person or do you feel like being a hermit crab during this season like me?
